SkyTruth Alerts
How-To Guide: Register for an Account
SkyTruth Alerts is now SkyTruth Monitor. View the How-To Guide.
Anyone can view Alerts on the map for free, but some features require you to register for an account. For example, if you would like to annotate and save a map, we need to be able to connect your work to a specific account. We also require you to create an account to use services we pay for, such as satellite imagery. We respect your privacy and you agree to follow our terms of service.
To create an account for SkyTruth Alerts:
- Go to SkyTruth Alerts.
- Click the Main Menu button, then Login (all devices.) On a desktop computer, you can click also Login at the top right.
- Look for Don’t have an account? Register here at the bottom of the Login window, and click the link.
- Enter a user id, password (twice) and email address for your account. (Your user id can be the same as your email address.)
- Click the Register button.
- A verification email will be sent to the email address you provided from data@skytruth.org and with the subject: Verify your SkyTruth Alerts account.
- Click the link in the email to verify your account.
- You can now log in with your user ID and password.
If you subscribed to SkyTruth’s original Alerts service, all of your areas of interest (AOIs) were brought into the new system. You will continue to receive emails but will need to create an account if you want to update or delete old AOIs, create new ones, or make use of the new features now available. When creating your account, it’s important to use the same email address you used in the original Alerts so your AOIs will not be lost.
