There are three steps to getting notifications about Alerts in your county — or any area of interest (AOI) you want to monitor:
Sign up for an Account
- Go to SkyTruth Alerts.
- Click the Main Menu button, then Login (all devices.) On a desktop computer, you can click also Login at the top right.
- Look for Don’t have an account? Register here at the bottom of the Login window, and click the link.
- Enter a user id, password (twice) and email address for your account. (Your user id can be the same as your email address.)
- Click the Register button.
- A verification email will be sent to the email address you provided from data@skytruth.org and with the subject: Verify your SkyTruth Alerts account.
- Click the link in the email to verify your account.
- You can now log in with your user ID and password.
Select Your County
- Click the My Areas tab in the left sidebar.
- Click the Explore New Area Button.
- Click the Pre-Defined AOIs button. (AOI = Area of Interest)
- Select your state from the dropdown, then select your county.
- Click the Explore button next to your county’s name.
- Click Add this AOI to My List.
- Type in a name for your AOI, then click the SAVE button.
Select the Alerts you Want to See on the Map and/or be Notified About
- Click the Alerts tab at top left.
- Select Settings (just below the timeline link). You’ll see a list of all available Alerts.
- From the list, choose which alerts you want to see on the map and which ones you want to be notified about. You can click the Settings link to change the alerts you see or get notified about any time.
- Click the Submit button.
You will start to receive email notifications as soon as we have them. NRC alerts are typically released once a week, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday. State agencies tend to publish alerts more frequently and we check daily for any new ones. Find out more about where Alerts come from and their frequency.
