ALERTS HOW-TO GUIDE

Share Map Views

Alerts lets you share your current map view in two ways:
  • A JPG image that is downloaded to your PC.
  • A URL that can be used in another browser to bring up the same map view.

Make sure the map is positioned with the alerts, annotations and basemap/satellite image you want. Then click the  icon to bring up these share options.

NOTE: If you created a new AOI but have not added it to your list yet, the share icon () will not be available. Click Add this AOI to my List on the My Alerts tab to enable the share icon.

Copy URL to Clipboard will take the long URL shown in gray and copy it to your clipboard. You can then paste it anywhere, including using it in an <iframe /> tag that can embed the URL on your own web page.

For example:

<iframe src="https://alerts.skytruth.org/view/jSP0TTos-q7IY-yLa4-OhNC-t33btVIXJuTp"
  style="width: 100%; height: 800px;" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen">
</iframe>

The other button — Download image of map — will create and download a JPG image file to your PC.

There are a few known issues with map sharing:

  1. Browsers are configured with different screen sizes, resolutions and ratios. This means sharing a URL may create slightly different views in different browsers.
  2. The JPG image looks complete with the exception of Map Clustering, which does not evaluate correctly.
