About SkyTruth Alerts

We built SkyTruth Alerts as an in-house tool in 2001, to help us monitor environmentally significant incidents by geographical area. We shared it with the public the following year.

In 2018, SkyTruth Alerts underwent a major overhaul, taking advantage of the latest mapping technology, providing account management, better ways to create areas of interest (AOIs), and new and restored sources of alerts.

SkyTruth Alerts is free and open to the public. You can subscribe to areas of interest you care about and receive email updates of environmental incidents in those areas.

The new version of Alerts was provided with generous support from the following funders:

  • Campbell Family Foundation
  • Catena Foundation
  • Cornell Douglas Foundation
  • The Heinz Endowments
  • Patagonia
  • The Tilia Fund
  • Wallace Genetic Foundation
